Gutter Cleaning

Gutters only need to be a few centimetres deep in wet leaves and moss before they stop working. Johnson's Roofing clears gutters, hoppers and downpipes properly by hand and by vacuum, flushes the whole run through with water, and tells you honestly what condition the roofline behind the gutter is in while we are up there.

What the work covers

  • Full clear of gutters, hoppers, valleys and downpipes
  • Debris bagged and taken away, not dropped in the borders
  • Water flush test on every run before we leave
  • Downpipe rodding for blockages at ground level
  • Photographs of anything we find on the roofline
  • Sagging bracket and loose joint refitting on the spot
  • Moss cleared from the gutter line and roof edge
  • Leaf guard fitted afterwards if trees are the problem
  • Annual reminder so it never gets left three winters running
  • Fully insured, free quote before we start

How we work

We access the gutter line safely, clear every run by hand and vacuum, rod any blocked downpipes, then flush the system with water so you can see it draining properly. If we spot rot in the fascia, a split soffit or a joint that will not hold, we photograph it and tell you what it needs. No pressure to book anything further.

Common questions

How often should gutters be cleaned?

Once a year for most houses, ideally in late autumn once the leaves are down. If you have trees close to the house, twice a year is more realistic.

How much does gutter cleaning cost?

It depends on the height, the length of the gutter run and how bad the build-up is. We quote a fixed price for the whole property before we start, free of charge.

Do you clear the downpipes too?

Yes. A clear gutter feeding a blocked downpipe still overflows, so we rod the downpipes and flush the whole system through with water.

Will you tell me if my fascias are rotten?

Yes, and with photographs. Cleaning gutters is the best chance anyone gets to see the roofline up close, so you get an honest report on what we find, whether you act on it or not.
