Full Roofline Replacement

Most people do not buy a fascia. They buy an end to painting the roofline every few summers. A full roofline replacement takes the fascias, soffits, bargeboards and guttering off in one visit, deals with whatever the timber underneath turns out to be, and puts back a maintenance-free uPVC edge that matches all the way round the house. One access platform, one team, one written price.

What the work covers

  • Fascias, soffits, bargeboards and guttering replaced as a single job
  • Old timber stripped so the rafter feet can be seen and checked
  • Rotten rafter ends and wall plate sections cut out and renewed
  • Roof felt at the eaves supported with an eaves protector tray
  • Tile edge lifted and re-bedded so water reaches the new gutter
  • Full-thickness replacement board, not thin capping over old timber
  • Vented soffit or over-fascia vents to keep the loft breathing
  • 112mm half-round or square gutter with the right number of downpipes
  • Colour and woodgrain matched to your windows and doors
  • Access, waste removal and a written workmanship guarantee included

How we work

We measure the roofline in metres, count the downpipes and check the timber from an access platform before quoting, so the price reflects the real job rather than a guess from the pavement. On the day the old boards and guttering come off, the rafter feet are inspected in daylight, anything soft is cut out and renewed, an eaves tray protects the felt, then new board and gutter go on and the whole run is water tested before the platform comes down.

Common questions

Why replace the whole roofline at once?

Because the gutter has to come off to change the fascia, and the soffit has to come off to see the rafter feet. Doing it in stages means paying for the same access three times and living with tired gutters hanging off new boards.

Will you cap over the old timber?

Not on a full roofline replacement. Capping has its place where timber is sound and dry, but the point of a full replacement is that the old boards come off so the rafter feet can be seen and repaired.

What happens to the roof felt at the edge?

Old felt usually stops short or has perished at the eaves. We fit an eaves protector tray so water running off the felt is carried over the new fascia and into the gutter instead of soaking the board.

How long does a full roofline take?

Two to three days on a typical semi or terrace once access is up, longer on three storeys or where a lot of rafter ends need renewing. We give you the timeline in writing with the quote.

Can I keep my existing gutter size?

Yes if it is coping. On steep or large roofs we often recommend moving up to 112mm half-round or a deep-flow profile, because an undersized gutter overflows in heavy rain no matter how clean it is.
